What area does your service cover

The villages surrounding Assington. If you are on this map then we can usually reach you, subject to a signal test. We may need to install a repeater service for your village. We are also interested in developing other areas so still register with us and we will consider your area.

Is it as good as proper Broadband?

People often think that ADSL which uses the telephone line is the only 'real' broadband. The Internet can be carried by many methods, some better than others. In rural areas where ADSL is weak then Wireless Broadband is far better. It's at least as good as ADSL close to the telephone exchange. Our partners in this venture actually supply 50Meg Wireless Broadband to industrial sites using the same type of equipment (yes we know you want 50Meg one day...).

Is it affected by the weather?

Radio signals are affected by weather but we allow enough fade margin for you to be unaffected.

How fast does it go?

We are aiming to provide a Home Standard service of 4Meg down and 300k up speed. This will feel a lot faster than most ADSL services, even those claiming to be 8Megs. However this is a shared service so the speed may be slower at busy times. For those who need a more consistently fast service our Home Business service with 6Meg/600k costs more and has fewer users. This is what the big ISP's don't tell you. They are so keen to explain how amazingly fast their very cheapest service is that they forget to tell you it's over subscribed and so slows down massively at certain  times of the day. For many people this does not matter but for gamers and business users consistency is what's needed.

What if I need more?

Our business class services are less contended and provide a public IP and 30GB monthly traffic allowance as standard. We can also provide static public IP on your connection, just like corporate head office has. Once we get our network established we can begin improving it and offering big city type speeds to those who can justify the extra cost. It is possible to save a lot of money by working from home instead of commuting to the City. The faster the speed the closer you feel to corporate HQ and the more days you can spend working from home.

Is there a download cap?

We have an acceptable use policy which requires that your use of the service does not seriously affect other users. P2P applications such as BitTorrent should not use the full bandwidth of your connection. We discourage the constant use of such services. We have set monthly bandwidth allowances, see the table in the next section.

What's the cost?

Service Spec Cost
Installation Radio fitted to TV pole £120
Home Basic 2Meg down 100k up 2GB/Month traffic £15/Month
Home Standard 4Meg down 300k up. 10GB/Month £20/Month
Home & Business 6Meg down 600k up 30GB/Month £27/Month

These are preliminary prices. Most people require the standard connection which has plenty of speed and plenty of traffic allowance for a typical family or small business. The basic connection is fine for web surfing and emails and chat but not suitable for more demanding Internet applications that most people want to use.  We intend to only sell the Home & Business service to start with and when we have completed installing those we will install the Home Standard and finally the Home Basic. If your area is not covered then to fund the initial Access Point installation for the village we are looking for some pioneers to pay in advance for installation and service for for 9 months and get 3 months free.
